May 11, 1988: ASCAP and Carnegie Hall celebrated Irving Berlin's 100th birthday with a star-studded tribute in his honor at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Veteran newsman Walter Cronkite and his wife Betsey Cronkite attended the event. Walter appeared on the evening concert program as part of the tribute.
